SESA Lab
Description
The SESA-Lab (Smart Energy Simulation and Automation Laboratory) is presenting an innovative approach to testing electrical systems of the future and is offering reliable solutions to help integrate green energy into our grids. In the context of increasingly complex grids, where numerous heterogeneous components must exist and communicate, OFFIS and the University of Oldenburg have developed an advanced and indispensable test-environment to evaluate those components in “near” real-world conditions (especially the ICT-side), thus decreasing their time-to-market. This technological gem, including the integration framework mosaik, is a ground-breaking real-time co-simulation platform.

Description
As part of the project, OFFIS is setting up a simulation infrastructure in the SESA-Lab to map the electrical network including active (Smart) controller components and their interconnecting communication network. A particular focus here is on the communication infrastructure and the effects of communication technologies on network control. The aim is to investigate the effects of (temporarily) limited communicational capabilities of the connected intelligent controller components on system stability.
